Marriage Counseling and Marital Infidelities
Marital infidelity is one of the most hurtful things that could happen in a relationship. Infidelity causes a number of negative emotions such as intense emotional pain, anger, guilt, disbelief, shame and fear. An affair need not cause you to end your marriage. With the help of marriage counseling, both you and your partner would be able to overcome this traumatic and trying time in your lives. If you are determined to rebuild your relationship, visit a professional counselor to help counteract the damage that infidelity caused in your relationship. Some couples even emerge from the trauma with a more honest and stronger relationship than ever before.
Marriage counseling can help you explore any underlying marital problems, put the affair on a different perspective, learn ways to rebuild and strengthen your marriage and as much as possible, avoid divorce.
Affairs happen for various reasons. Even couples in happy relationships are not spared from extra marital affairs. Usually, reasons include low self-esteem, sexual addiction, and addiction to love or romance, immaturity, fear of intimacy, not getting enough from the marriage or not contributing to enough to it. Sometimes, it may be an action of retaliation, a means of ending an unhappy marriage, an impulsive action as a result of alcohol or drugs and even life transition such as an empty nest syndrome or a child’s birth.
Although not all marriage tainted by infidelity can be saved, marriage counseling can be very beneficial. Seek a relationship counselor that can help you reach your goal. An ideal professional counselor would be somebody trained in dealing with infidelity and does not see it as an end to a marriage.
Ideal Frequency for Marriage Counseling Sessions
Most couples do not seek counseling until problems in their relationships become serious. Unfortunately, the longer the problem persists, the smaller the chances that marriage counseling will work.
The first time you see a professional counselor, she will speak to you first about a number of things such as your relationship problems, its nature and causes as well as the history of your relationship. Counselors need to gather enough information so they fully picture your situation and most importantly, so they can develop the best counseling plan for you.
Professional couples counselors have specialized training in various relationship skills so they can properly address relationship issues. Couples will also be given tasks to complete. Due to the different and varied issues involving each couple, counseling remains flexible.
Ideally, initial frequency of sessions is set at once a week. As the therapy progresses, pacing changes and the sessions are reduced. It usually goes down to twice a month. Similarly, the number of counseling sessions needed also varies. Commonly, the number of total sessions is around 14. If the couple progresses smoothly during the counseling, the frequency may be reduced to around six to eight sessions.
When someone loses their job they often feel as if they have lost a part of their identity. In a culture where career is so important, many people have begun to feel that they are what they do and if they are doing nothing then they feel as if they are nothing. This is very difficult for individuals to deal with on a personal level and it also affects their relationships with others.
Lashing out and Feeling Scared…
Feeling vulnerable and scared can make most anyone lash out in anger, defending themselves from whatever unseen hurt might newly come their way. It is a common reaction and has to be dealt with, understood and then changed before it becomes more serious.

What I do….
I help people solve problems.
My clients may have symptoms such as depression, anger, or anxiety. They may have a poor sense of self. Sometimes they just feel lost. The consistent element is that they have situations in their life they have not been able to resolve.
Sometimes they are not entirely aware of just what is causing the problem.People solve problems based on past experience, but sometimes the old solution stops working.
I help people find solutions that will work for them now. My services include counseling for both adults and children, as well as Therapeutic Massage. Feel free to contact me for further information on how this process works.
